Flotation machine is a common equipment in mineral processing. It is water that is floated by foam. The common beneficiation materials of flotation machine include non-ferrous metals such as copper, zinc, lead, nickel and gold. It can also be used for the roughing and cleaning of non metals such as coal fluorite and talc.
In the process of flotation, the flotation machine has requirements for the particle size of minerals. The results selected are also different due to different thickness. The ore particles are too coarse. Even if the minerals have been dissociated, they often cannot float because they exceed the floating capacity of bubbles. The upper limit of flotation particle size of various minerals is different. For example, sulfide minerals are generally 0.2-0.25mm and non sulfide minerals are 0.25-0.3mm. For some non-metallic minerals with low density, such as coal, the upper limit of particle size can also be increased. However, too fine grinding particle size (e.g. less than 0.01mm) is also unfavorable to flotation. Practice has proved that the flotation behavior of various particle sizes is different. Different minerals have their excellent flotation particle size range.
If the mineral particles are too large, the effect of flotation is not ideal. Because the flotation machine uses bubbles for flotation, if the weight of minerals is too heavy and the bearing strength of bubbles is not enough, minerals cannot be screened out and the desired effect cannot be achieved. However, if the mineral is too fine (such as less than 0.01 mm), the flotation effect is also not ideal. In view of these situations, how can we make some changes to the flotation work? You can refer to the following methods:
- Select a special flotation machine suitable for flotation of coarse particles, etc. The structure and operation of conventional flotation machines should be improved and adjusted, and the groove depth should be reduced (using shallow groove type) to shorten the buoyancy path of mineralized bubbles, so as to avoid the falling off of ore particles. The upper grout area of the impeller area will weaken the turbulent strength of the slurry, maintain the foam area stable, increase the volume of aeration, and form more large bubbles, which is conducive to the formation of the floating mass consisting of bubbles and mineral particles.
- Appropriately increase the pulp concentration and improve the reagent system: select the collector with strong collector and reasonably increase the reagent concentration, in order to enhance the fixation strength of minerals and bubbles, speed up the floating speed, and add non-polar oil. Auxiliary collectors such as diesel oil and kerosene can “consolidate” the three-phase contact periphery and enhance the fixation strength of minerals and bubbles.
