Installation of ball mill
Installation quality is the key to ensure the normal operation of the ball mill. The installation method and sequence of various ball mills are roughly the same. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the ball mill and reduce the risk to the building, the ball mill must be installed on a reinforced concrete foundation 2.5 to 3 times its weight. The foundation should be laid on firm soil and should be at least 40-50 cm from the workshop foundation.
When installing a large ball mill, the main bearing should be installed first. In order to avoid aggravating the wear of hollow journals and bearing bushes, the height difference between the two main bearing bases should not exceed 0.25 mm per meter of length. Next, install the drum of the ball mill. According to the specific situation, you can install the pre-installed drum directly or install it in several parts. Check and adjust the journal and center line of the ball mill. The concentricity error must ensure that the length per meter is less than 0.25mm. Finally, install the transmission components (pinions, shafts, couplings, reducers, motors, etc.).
During the installation process, measurements and adjustments should be made according to the product technical standards. Check the radial swing of the ring gear and the meshing performance of the pinion; the concentricity of the reducer and the pinion; and the concentricity of the motor and the reducer. After all installations meet the requirements, the concrete of the anchor bolts and the main bearing seat can be poured.

Operation of ball mill
In order to achieve a high operating rate and a good grinding effect, the operation and maintenance procedures must be strictly followed. Before starting the mill, check whether the connecting bolts are tight; check the tightness of gears, pinions, couplings and feed systems. Check whether there is enough lubricating oil in the oil tank and reducer, whether the whole lubricating device and instrument are faulty, and make sure that the lubricating line is in good condition. Inspect around the mill and classifier for debris that is impeding operation, then check the ring gear and pinion contact.
The sequence of the start-up procedure is to start the lubrication pump of the mill first, start the ball mill when the oil pressure reaches 1.5-2.0 kg/cm², then start the spiral classifier, and then start the ball mill after normal operation.
When the ball mill is running, the bearing temperature should be checked frequently and should not exceed 50 to 65 °C. Always pay attention to the voltage, current, temperature and sound of the drive motor. Always pay attention to the lubrication system, the oil temperature in the fuel tank should not exceed 35 ~ 40 ℃. The oil supply line pressure should be maintained at 1.5-2.0 kg/cm².
Check the lubrication of the transmission parts such as the ring gear and pinion, main bearing, classifier reducer, observe the feeding and discharging of the ball mill, drum, discharge box, classifier overflow tank, and sand return tank to ensure that there is no blockage . Always pay attention to changes in ore conditions and take corresponding measures.
Before stopping the ball mill, first stop the ore feeding, after the ore is processed out of the ball mill, stop the ball mill motor, and finally stop the lubrication system. With the help of the lifting device of the classifier, the screw is lifted out of the sand surface, and then the classifier is stopped.
Maintenance of ball mill
In order to ensure the safe operation of the ball mill and improve the integrity rate of the ball mill, it is necessary to carry out planned maintenance. There are three types of inspection work:
Minor repairs: Once a month, including temporary accident repairs, mainly minor changes and adjustments. The focus is on replacing wear-prone parts such as ball mill liners, feed hopper heads, adjusting bearings and gear meshing. Repair water leaks in various parts.
Medium repair: Generally carried out once a year, the equipment parts are cleaned and adjusted, and a large number of wear-resistant parts are replaced.
Overhaul: In addition to completing medium and minor repair tasks, focus on repairing and replacing main parts, such as hollow shafts, ring gears, bearings, etc. The time interval between overhauls is determined by the degree of damage to these parts.
